Condenser

The condenser is the outdoor unit of your air conditioning or heat pump system. It releases the heat absorbed from inside your home to the outdoor air.
Components:
- Compressor: Pressurizes refrigerant
- Condenser coil: Releases heat to outdoor air
- Fan: Blows air across coil to dissipate heat
- Refrigerant lines: Connect to indoor unit
How It Works (Cooling Mode):
Heat Pump Operation: In heating mode, the process reverses—the outdoor unit absorbs heat from outside air and transfers it indoors.
Maintenance:
- Keep 2 feet of clearance around unit
- Remove debris from around and on top of unit
- Clean coil fins annually
- Professional service twice yearly
Signs of Problems:
- Unit won't turn on
- Unusual noises (grinding, squealing)
- Ice buildup on unit
- Not cooling effectively
- Short cycling (turning on/off frequently)
