C.L.U.E. Report

Definition: A database report showing your insurance claims history that insurers use to evaluate risk and set premiums.

C.L.U.E. (Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange) is a claims history database maintained by LexisNexis. Insurance companies use it to review your past claims when you apply for coverage.

What's in a C.L.U.E. Report:

  • Claims filed in the past 7 years
  • Date of loss
  • Type of loss (fire, theft, water damage, etc.)
  • Amount paid
  • Property address
  • Insurance company

    How It Affects You:

  • Insurers check your report when you apply for coverage
  • Multiple claims can increase your premium
  • Some claims may make you ineligible for certain insurers
  • Claims follow the property AND the person

    Your Rights:

  • You can request one free C.L.U.E. report per year
  • You can dispute inaccurate information
  • Insurers must tell you if they deny coverage based on C.L.U.E.
